Grounding relieves anxiety by making you aware of your body while also calming the nervous system. What happens with anxiety is that we get stuck in our heads with fearful thoughts. The brain’s amygdala then sends danger signals to the body that there is a threat and your body reacts and goes into fight or flight mode.
You DO NOT have to be a slave to anxiety and fear. Why? Because you have the power to quickly reverse it at any time.
EFT – This is the first thing I teach to my clients. It is the single best way to bring FAST relief.
EFT is the acronym for emotional freedom technique, and you essentially tap on the same body points that are used with acupuncture. But while tapping on these points, you acknowledge your fears, dark thoughts and emotions until you calm down the reaction to them.
You are using the bodily pressure points of acupuncture while directly addressing what is causing the anxiety. It results in a grounding of errant energy so the amygdala no longer sees threats and stops sending distress signals to the body… and all in a matter of minutes.
In effect, you are telling your mind that there is no danger and all is safe.
EFT tapping might look weird but there is a lot of science behind it. It’s also easy to learn and you can use it anywhere. EFT is a powerful technique that is literally at your fingertips.

DEEP BREATHING – another grounding technique that calms anxiety.
For a long time, I was not aware about how powerful it is to consciously fill all 5 lobes of the lungs. Now, when I think about it, it’s a no-brainer. There is so much more oxygen that gets to the cells so they function better. And that includes the brain.
I use conscious breathing in hypnosis sessions but, even before that, I teach my clients how to deep belly breathe because it’s a stand-alone way to calm down the nervous system and bring awareness to the present moment, no matter where you are.
Many things that happen when you are stressed, such as increased heart rate, shallow breathing, and high blood pressure. All these decrease as you breathe deeply and relax more.
The breath is the one automatic function of your body that you can take over for a while and then let go so your mind-body runs it. It’s quite remarkable.
But when you’re panicked or anxious, your body is tight and you are taking very shallow breaths. In such moments imagine breathing in a calm color, like blue or green, and send it all over your body. The subconscious mind reacts to these visuals and the mind-body system calms down.
Deep Breathing and EFT – easy, fast tools to help you ground in the moment. – wherever you go, they are with you.
