You found an outfit that fit you perfectly and brought out the color of your eyes – you loved to wear it but it has shrunk on repeated washings and is tighter all over. You can barely sit for fear of ripping the seams. However, you’ve worn it for many years and that’s what you’re used to.
Think about that.
OK, now that you have mulled that one over, I’m sure you understand that it doesn’t make sense to wear something that no longer fits. It’s time for change, isn’t it? Maybe you’ve done the same job for too many years. Maybe the kids are gone. Maybe you’re just bored and don’t know what to do next. Retirement? No, not ready!
But get this, women after 50 have the best options for recreating their lives.
“I would say that women over 50 starting their own business actually have more advantages than disadvantages in comparison to younger women,” says Kimberly A. Eddleston, a professor of entrepreneurship and innovation at Northeastern University.
Usually the child-rearing years are over, they have a lot more experience, and they have developed thick skins working in male-dominated industries. Women even have a few advantages over men as entrepreneurs. For one thing, women are generally more social, they’re connectors. And women are more open to collaborative work with others.
I’m not saying that all women over 50 need to become entrepreneurs but, if you are restless for change, there are many roads you can take, once you decide to take the first step. Does change really have to be so hard? No, it doesn’t. Maybe it’s uncomfortable, or different, or new. Maybe there’s some fear of the unknown or what “it” will look like when you commit.
But here’s the thing, you have been changing your whole life…it’s inevitable.
You changed from a baby to a toddler then to a child, teen, adult. It’s constantly happening and you know what, it’s a great reason to be alive because we are never finished. And now you are better equipped for change than ever before.
When clients come to see me they are often desirous to change something that is inside them which no longer fits who they’ve become. But the fear of leaving the known, feeling uncomfortable, facing something new, or sitting in the unknown is the source of resistance- and that makes them feel stuck.
They can wish to change but it doesn’t happen until they actually do the work, and that’s where hypnosis comes in.
The process of hypnosis bypasses the critical factor of the brain through relaxation and a focused concentration. So, the resistance is lowered and the old programming that is holding you back can finally change to what you really want. At last you can allow the new you, which is already there, to emerge and express herself.
Think of it this way…we want to be always evolving because that makes us more flexible and resilient. The more you allow yourself to perceive of your life from this perspective, the more successful you will be in carrying off that new outfit that fits you perfectly for who you are today.
Let nothing bind you in the world other than your highest inner truth.
